For Valentine's Day, we did not plan anything romantic. Len and I aren't a big fan of this made-up holiday. We did buy each other cards and some small chocolates. We also got some candy for the kids. Simple & sweet!
Despite the fact we don't celebrate much on Valentines, we did end up having a fun dinner that day. Several months back at a youth fundraiser we "bought" a 3 course meal prepared by two teen boys. It took quite awhile to finally cash in our meal voucher, with juggling multiple families' activities. When we finally settled on a date that worked for everyone, it ended up being Valentines Day! It wasn't a romantic dinner by any means, as we still had our 4 kids, plus 2 teen boys, plus a friend who was spending the night. It was actually quite loud and hilarious!
These two boys did a knock-out job with this meal. We had salad, garlic bread, chicken Alfredo fettucini (with made from scratch Alfredo sauce!) and molten lava cake for dessert! It was AMAZING! And, I didn't have to cook anything!
It was a little weird having two teenage boys cooking in my kitchen. But the whole experience was so much fun. The teens were hilarious and our dinner conversation with 7 kids was all over the place! I think we spent as much time laughing as we did eating. While it was certainly not your typical Valentines dinner, it might go down as one our more memorable dinners!

For President's Day, our kids were off from school. At the breakfast table I joked with them that they needed to do a homework assignment on President's Day. And our crazy girls actually did! They took that project idea and made a President's Day skit. They tried to involve the boy, but surprisingly the 4 year old wouldn't cooperate!
Here's the finished product:
