So our June was filled with a trip back to Texas. If it seems like we just went back to Texas . . . well, we did! We made our yearly trek to that great state back in December for Christmas. When we came back home, Len tiredly asked, "Can we please spend next Christmas ('13) at home?" We couldn't go a whole year and a half or even 2 years in between visits, so we decided to make our yearly trip this year in the summer time. To add to the fun, we gave our older girls an extra adventure on top of it all with alone time with each set of grandparents. We flew them down ahead of us for a few days with Grammy & Pop and then they stayed behind for a few extra days with Mia & Boss too. They also got alone time with Nana & Papa in between those visits (with no plane rides involved). Everyone had a blast!
Texas trip Part I @ Grammy & Pop's:
We sweated and worked hard, helping Pop in his mammoth garden, riding horses, and throwing Grammy & Pop a 25th Anniversary Party. My sister, Hayley, and I put together decorations and helped cook. Great fun in the country!
Our 'B' was super excited to see this in the horse pasture:
No, not the poop. Look closer. The dung beetles! She did a report and project at school last year about them and thinks they are super cool. Even 2 year old 'S' learned (and has quoted several times) that "Beetles eat poop!"
'N', our critter catcher, fell in love with this guy:
At one point she even had him walking on her head and through her hair! Just goes to show that it doesn't take much to thrill our kids!
This was one of the best parts of the driving, although it didn't happen long enough. (Yes, that is 'S' sleeping under the blue blanket.)
Texas trip Part II @ Nana & Papa's:
While Nana, the kids and I enjoyed the AC indoors and had fun visiting, Len and Papa worked their tails off outside with projects like weed eating, cutting down small trees, fixing steps, and hanging hardware. We loved our time there, both the fellowship and the small help we were able to give! We kept it simple and just had fun together!

Texas trip Part III @ Mia & Boss's:
While at Mia's house, we spent one long, fun day at the Dallas zoo. We had some VIP connections, so we got a personal tour guide and a nice little cart to drive us around. Way cool on a hot, hot day!
