After Texas we purposely hit some fun sights on our journey to the west coast. Our first stop was Carlsbad, NM. We went over 700 feet underground and saw some amazing caverns.
Our next stop was Albuquerque, NM. We took the sky tram up 7,000 feet into the Sandia Mountains and hiked around.
Our biggest stop was the Grand Canyon. We spent two days here hiking all over the rim. Amazing place! Grand is not a big enough word to describe this natural beauty.
We attempted to watch the sunset but the clouds and smoke from California made it hazy.

After the Grand Canyon was Hoover Dam . . .
And Vegas.
(Side note: While Vegas has some amazing sights, it wasn't a positive memory for us. First it was hot! 110 degrees with gusts of hot wind that felt like someone was putting a blow dryer in your face. Second, we did way too much walking. Vegas is larger than life so "half a block" was more like half a mile! Just walking thru a hotel to get to the trams and monorails at the back took 15-20 mins! Last, people seem to bring their wildest and freakiest side to Vegas! Our kids were a little spooked by all the weirdos they saw. Maybe they'll never want to gamble or party? If that's the case then we'll count this stop as a win!)
Finally we made it to Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean.
We went to the California Science Center and saw the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Endeaver space shuttle.
Tomorrow we fly out to Hawaii! Aloha here we come!

Love Carlsbad its not to far from us we have been there with church group and I plan on taking Jason's family in March when they come visit
