Gobble, Gobble!

Happy Turkey Day!

We spent our Thanksgiving doing the old traditional, usual things:

* We drove 5 hours with 3 wild girls and a newborn to spend the holidays split between a hotel and a bachelor pad - neither of which were kid proofed!

* We spent three nights in one of North Carolina's oldest and fanciest hotels - excuse me, I mean, Inn. This place was way above our pay grade.

* We looked like the Beverly Hillbillies arriving with our van loaded down, 4 kids, and green grocery bags and a cooler as part of our luggage. If someone else had been riding with us, they would had to have been strapped to the roof just like Granny Clampett. The oh-so-courteous wait staff will be laughing about us for quite some time. We'll be sure to not go back for another 10 years so hopefully they won't recognize us by then.

* Len and I spent most of the weekend repeating the same phrase where ever we went - "Don't Touch!" (Luckily the only thing we broke was the beard off a nutcracker decoration. I stuck it back in the mouth quickly and then closed it's little cracking mouth so that it would stay before anyone noticed! If we're lucky the next person who touches it and moves the nut cracker will think they broke it!)

* We got to pick up a million tiny pieces of the world's largest candy canes after our oldest girls decided to use them for a sword fight, right in the middle of the Inns exquisitely decorated hallway, under their beautiful chandeliers. They'll be finding sticky peppermint for days to come!

* We fixed an entire Thanksgiving meal (turkey, ham, dressing, 2 different potato dishes, beans, green beans, rolls, dessert, & tea) in my brother's bachelor pad kitchen that realistically only holds 2 or 3 people at a time.

* We had a great time hanging out with family and gorging ourselves on food!

OK. So only the last one is typical, but it made for a memorable weekend! Not sure that I want to load up and do that adventure again, but I'm glad we did it for one Thanksgiving. It was so nice to visit with Uncle Jeremy, Aunt Hayley, & Uncle Jonathan. (Sorry Grammy, no group pictures!) Hopefully your Thanksgiving was just as blessed! And speaking of adorable little turkeys . . .

OK. Terrible segue. But he is an adorable little guy! Don't you just want to gobble him up!

I can't believe how grown up the girls look now that there is a itty bitty one too. Sounds fabulous!

Laughing out loud over here! By far the best turkey day post I read this year! Please don't tell me those types of disasters keep happening on up into 5 and 7 years old! Hah!! You are a hoot, and the kids are, as usual, adorable!

This is so us on every trip we have ever been on! Loved the recap, and I'm sorry, there's no way that Jeremy is a grown-up. It's just not possible. Didn't my dad used to call him "Tick"?

Too cute! Wish we'd been there. And yes, Mandy, that is "Tick"!
