The Great Siren Search

For anyone who has visited or lived in our town, you know there there are certain statues found all over.  Different cities have their "thing" that they like to display in statue form.  Our town has mermaids!  There are over 100 of these statues all around.  Our family passes by one every day on our way to and from church, and we've always talked about going around and taking pictures with them.

Since this is our last full weekend with Len at home before we move, we decided it was now or never to take advantage of these cool statures and snag some pictures with them.  So Saturday afternoon we set out to "hunt" and "shoot" (with the camera) as many as we could.  Some we knew about.  Some we just happened upon.

First stop was the base where Len worked.

Then a few more on our way to our favorite one.

"School of Fish" - (She was outside a school and she had fish on her belly.)

Our favorite one we pass every week.  She wears a stethoscope because she's outside a hospital.

Then downtown for some walking fun and exploring.

After the "Plated Mermaid" the girls ran around the flowerbed and gave me silly faces.  (And then 'N' managed to run off the flowerbed and took a one foot fall to the cement!  Fun, fun!)

Our last few ended us by the water and piers downtown.

Our "hunt" ended there as the weather no longer cooperated with our outings and our tummies were growling for dinner.  We ended our evening by stuffing ourselves with yummy Mexican food!  Great day!  

The reality of our move is sinking in every day, and that certainly makes us sad.  But the fact that we are leaving soon made this mermaid search all the more fun!  Wonderful memories of an area we've called home for 3 1/2 years!
