In case I haven't mentioned, our oldest 'R' goes to a really cool school! They do so many fun projects, labs, and field trips. One of the big projects the 2nd graders do each year is a restaurant. They discuss and learn about the system of the business, the economics of our society, and process of finding a job. 'R' had to fill out an application for what position she wanted within the restaurant, she had to get reccomendations, and she had to sit in a job interview. Every student in her class had some job to fill to make the restuarant run smoothly. Parents provided most of the supplies and a few adults supervised the "cooks". We made reservations to attend, and each student had one shift where they were the consumer and one shift where they were the producer or worker. The students helped make placemats and decorations, and they turned their normal desks and classroom into a real restaurant! Parents actually ate lunch there! It was quite a production!
Unfortunately due to the sick baby, I stayed home. Thankfully "Grammy" dined in my place. She was very impressed with all the hard work the kids had put into this project. And while I don't really know how all the other students felt about it all, I know our 2nd grader was super, oober-dooper excited about this restaurant. It's the one school day this year she jumped up out of bed and was dressed before her sisters!
Not sure if she'll want to make waitressing a future occupation or not, but at least now she can say she has some experience!

I know she was great at this, we got our own little preview while you guys were visiting and they all worked together and did this exact thing. She has a great gift for service that is for sure!
